A Selah Moment

Saturday December 29, 2007

The Earth is THE LORD’S, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it;

for HE Founded it upon the seas

and Established it upon the waters.

Who may ascend The Hill Of THE LORD?

Who may Stand In HIS Holy Place?

He who has clean hands and a pure heart,

who does not lift up his soul to an idol

or swear by what is false.

He Will Receive Blessing From THE LORD

and Vindication From GOD his SAVIOR.

Such is the generation of those who Seek HIM,

who Seek YOUR Face, O GOD Of Jacob. Selah

Lift up your heads, O you gates;

be lifted up, you ancient doors,

that THE KING OF GLORY May Come In.

Who Is this KING OF GLORY?

THE LORD Strong And Mighty,

THE LORD Mighty In Battle.

Lift up your heads, O you gates;

lift them up, you ancient doors,

that THE KING OF GLORY May Come In.

Who Is HE, This KING OF GLORY?

THE LORD ALMIGHTY–

HE IS THE KING OF GLORY. Selah

Psalm 24Open Link in New Window

King David proclaimed: “THE LORD OF HOSTS, HE IS THE KING OF GLORY” (Psm24:10). The word Selah was later added to the end of this Psalm and many others. Some believe it refers to an instrumental interlude because the psalms were often set to music. Biblical scholars also suggest other possible meanings, including “silence,” “pause,” “interruption,” “accentuate,” “exalt,” or “end.”

Reflecting on these words can help us take a “Selah moment” to pause and worship GOD during the day.

Be silent and listen to The Voice Of GOD:

“Be Still, and Know that I AM GOD,

I Will Be Exalted among the Nations,

I Will Be Exalted in the Earth.” Psalm 46:10Open Link in New Window

Pause from a hectic schedule to be refreshed in Spirit:

As the deer pants for streams of water,

so my Soul pants for YOU, O GOD.

My Soul thirsts for GOD, for THE LIVING GOD.

When can I Go and Meet With GOD?

Psalm 42:1-2Open Link in New Window

Interrupt the day to do a Spiritual inventory and be Cleansed:

Surely YOU Desire Truth in the inner parts;

YOU Teach me Wisdom in the inmost place.

Cleanse me with hyssop, and I Will Be Clean;

Wash me, and I Will Be Whiter than snow.

Create in me a Pure Heart, O GOD,

and Renew a Steadfast Spirit Within me.

Psalm 51:6,7,10Open Link in New Window

Accentuate the Joy Of GOD’S Provision through Thanks-giving:

YOU Care for the land and water it;

YOU Enrich it Abundantly.

YOU Crown the year with YOUR Bounty,

and YOUR Carts Overflow With Abundance.

Psalm 65:9,11Open Link in New Window

Exalt The Name Of GOD for answered Prayer in spite of disappointment:

I waited patiently for THE LORD;

HE Turned to me and Heard my cry.

HE Lifted me out of the slimy pit,

out of the mud and mire;

HE Set my feet on a rock

and Gave me a firm place to Stand.

HE Put a New Song in my mouth,

a Hymn Of PRAISE To our GOD.

Psalm 40:1-3Open Link in New Window

End the day by reflecting on THE LORD’S Faithfulness:

My eyes stay open through the watches of the night,

that I may Meditate On YOUR PROMISES.

Psalm 119:148Open Link in New Window

David’s reflection on GOD included a Selah moment. Following his example will help us Worship our GOD throughout the day.

No day is complete without Worship.

INSIGHT:

Taking time during the day to reconnect with our Heavenly FATHER is often challenged by the tyranny of the urgent. But it is important to Look at JESUS’ Example in making time for Prayer despite a busy schedule. After a demanding evening of Healing Ministry (Mark 1:32-34Open Link in New Window), our LORD still sought a place to Pray:

“Now in the morning, having risen a long while before daylight, HE went out and departed to a solitary place; and there HE Prayed” (v 35).

GOD’S DAILY PROMISE:

GOD Has Said,

“I Will Never leave you,

nor forsake you.”

My Brethren, Worship GOD and be Cleansed by HIS WORD. In JESUS’ Name, Larry

One Response to “A Selah Moment”

  1. In the Amplified Bible verse 10 of Psalm 24Open Link in New Window says it like this.
    Who is [He then] this King of glory? The Lord of hosts, He is the King of glory. Selah [pause, and think of that]!
    I like the idea of that, if we will ‘pause’ and ‘think’ on His Word…there He is, with us! That is ‘AWEsome’.

    Also, this past summer I discovered a group called Selah, they have a song “You Raise Me Up”, it is just so inspiring to me. I’ll get Rans to help me upload the song and post it.
